I made an image. It's a goofy little image. I made a blog post about it. It's just a silly little goofy drawing of Vivian cosplaying as Koops in the middle of August. I'm pretty happy with it. I'm not happy with this site.

I started using Newgrounds a year or two ago, I honestly forget which. It's a goofy little site. I like it.

I don't like its userbase.

As I anxiously awaited votes on my first drawing, I started sifting through the Art tab, comparing my work to others. I had everything but E completely disabled.

I saw porn. Lots, lots, and lots of porn. With the filter set to E for Everyone only.

The filters HAVE to be enforced. This isn't a safe place at all for anyone under the age of 18, even with parental permission.

I have decided that I don't want my art standing alongside this absolute degeneracy and will now be posting it to my website, instead.

The pixel art itself was done in GIMP using lots and lots of layers, similar to how the original Paper Mario: TTYD did it on the GameCube.

I created the hands by drawing one vertical hand, rotating it with the default rotation tool set to no interpolation, and then traced the newly-rotated hand. I then flipped the hand around and mirrored it to the other side.

I applied shadows to most objects by cloning them, filling the entire layer with gray, and deleting anything that wasn't in the white area of the object which the shadows were being cast on.

The resulting piece:

Now all that was left to do is scale it up around 8x it's normal size if I remember correctly, which was literally a 1-step process. You can check out the final artwork soon on my art page!

Hello all, I've returned.

Sorry for vanishing for so long, just stopped caring about my Newgrounds page after a while. I felt less creative and was hitting crunch withdrawal.

Fortunately, I've still been productive: hacking away and learning Blender!

So, hopefully something will come of that soon.

Cheers, VideoGoblins:

shit hit the fan. I'm having issues with my family due to suffering from a fucked up sleep schedule and not getting up on time and being grumpy and all this shit. I'm not going to be able to get deltacubic out until at LEAST 2022 if this shit keeps up. we're, I'm ashamed to say this... We're on indefinite hiatus.

shit's back now btw we're alive-o

Deltacubic Devlog 1.9.21

Figuring things out

After playing Deltarune (chapter 1 demo), I found out that there's been a game missing from the VideoToaster Hall of Fame this whole time. And man, I thought Undertale was good...

Deltarune is a natural progression of that one RPG that everyone knows about. Same universe, same mechanics. But there's so much changed that it's an absolutely amazing experience.

The party mechanics and the battle system immediately come to mind. Not to mention the more technical bits and bobs, and you got yourself a bonified sequel. So, where does cubing a number come into play?

Deltacubic

Deltacubic is a fangame based on the popular video game Deltarune with a custom story and characters. This isn't slang for "Yeah, I opened Ralsei in GIMP and ran Hue-Saturation, totally original, don't steal!", I mean custom characters. I'm working on getting sprites for all of them at the moment. Even if I don't finish many projects, I'm hoping this one is one of those projects that do slip through the floodgates.

NERD SHIT INCOMING

GameMaker

GameMaker was actually the original engine used for Undertale and Deltarune. It's a simple game engine with a nice programming language called "GameMaker Lang", or GML for short. It has syntax similar to that of C, or Java, or C++. This language is extraordinarily powerful and can be used to create some pretty amazing experiences.

However, I'm inexperienced with the language. I understand the syntax and how it functions (as I have experience with all 3 of the aforementioned similarly formatted languages), but I may not utilize every feature to the fullest extent. This game will hopefully be a functional experience on the web and on desktop. It should also incorporate the feature set of at least Undertale. If I can't reach that point, I'll compromise on something else. I don't want to waste any volunteer's time.

Why not RPG Maker, tideo?

I would have used RPG Maker VX Ace if it weren't for the fact that it doesn't and can't output to HTML5 or SWF. Sure, MZ technically outputs HTML, but it's borked in any web browser as it's designed for NW.js.

Isn't this a little ambitious?

No. I don't think this is much of an undertaking.

I have plenty of experience with Unity and engines like RPG Maker. GML is proving to be extraordinarily easy to learn. Things are going well.

But I guess we'll just have to see...

This project is also on GameJolt and itch.io.
